Artist highlight: Mark Crilley

Mark Crilley is a fantastic illustrator who specializes in a lot of areas, he's also someone who has a lot of tutorials up on his YouTube channel, walking viewers through each of his speed drawings and how he's accomplished them. Below is one of his newest videos, explaining how to draw a character from the very popular anime series "Attack on Titan"

I've actually used some of Marks tutorials before and found his explanations very easy to follow and immensely helpful as well. He's definitely an artist to check out if you have the free time.

Quick look at my current work:

Just a quick look into a current project I'm doing for the book entitled "Heart of Darkness" this is a work up of my idea for the book cover:

This is still an unfinished piece, only because I have yet to add the book cover to the image.

Duncan Long: Book Illustrator

Duncan Long is an artist that has once again been such a huge influence on my book cover designs, his work is fantastic and the book covers end up looking very realistic, he's been an artist I could turn to whenever I felt in a sort of "Illustrators Slump" when doing my own book covers to get some inspiration for my own work and designs, you can find some of his work pictured below:

And his website which includes his vast portfolio can be found at this link: http://duncanlong.com/

Luke Pearson

Luke Pearson is an artist than has proved to be a brilliant source of research throughout the course, he's also someone I've actually had contact with when I was printing my own book. His work is fantastic and possibly my favourite work of his is from the "Hilda" graphic novel series. Pictures from this novel can be found below:

Tim Buckley: Web-comic Artist

Tim Buckley is an artist who I've admired for a vast number of years now, his artwork has influenced more than one of my projects throughout my course and he still continues to be an inspiration to my work.

He is an artist who mainly focuses on web-comics that have something to do with the current news in the gaming world and he draws them in a way to make them either comedic or dramatic.

Here are a few different pages from his web-comic which can be found at: http://www.cad-comic.com/
